My Journey to God

AUTUMN

Sodden leaves pave my path
This early autumn morn,
As I silently wind my way
Through fields of browning corn.
Rain taps a rhythmic song
On the leaves of nearby trees,
And wispy curls of mist float up
To say hello to me.
Flocks of geese trumpet by,
Departing from the lake,
Echoing through the valley
As dawn begins to break.
God lives in the valley,
As surely as I do,
For who but he could make this beauty
That I’m privileged to view!
